In honor of the release of the highly anticipated Marvel movie ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, let’s take a look at some of the most popular fan theories circulating the internet. Fans have been waiting for this movie for over a year, allowing them plenty of time to come up with wild, elaborate, and exciting theories for what they hope to see. I wish that everyone is as excited as I am to see which of their favorite theories unfold on the screen this week. So here are some of the biggest fan theories of Marvel’s newest big hit movie, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’.

A Trio of Spider-Men– One of the most popular theories, that was predicted as soon as the movie was announced, was the possible return of Tobey Maguire’s and Andrew Garfield as their Spider-Man characters. The multiverse is the biggest topic Marvel has been expanding upon, especially in Phase Four. Maguire and Garfield’s Spider-Man characters are predicted to appear as multiverse variants of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. This is a widely believed theory based on leaked set footage, actors’ responses to the allegations, and the return of past Spider-Man villains and their actors such as Doc Ock played by Alfred Molina, and Electro played by Jamie Fox. It will be exciting to see if some people’s favorite Spider-Men will return to fight against these villains in the movie.

Who is Doctor Strange?– Since the first trailer of Spider-Man: No Way Home was released, fans have had suspensions about Dr. Strange. Especially since it was revealed that Nick Fury was a Skrull in the last Spider-Man movie, there are speculations that the Dr. Strange we know isn’t the one from the trailer. Fans claim he acted out of character by helping Peter Parker with such a reckless spell. There are predictions that this Dr. Strange could truly be anyone from Agatha Harkness to Dare Devil. Other fans think that this theory is highly unlikely and that Dr. Strange has been irresponsible with magic in the past. Despite the disbelievers, how cool would it be to see Agatha Harkness on the big screen!

A Redemption Arc for Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man– When the second trailer for ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ was released, a certain cliffhanger immediately gave fans deja vu. In the trailer, MJ, portrayed by Zendaya, fell from a tall construction building as Spider-Man jumped and reached out to save her. This immediately reminded fans of Gwen Stacey’s tragic fall to death in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’, where Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man was unable to save her. Fans have been praying that MJ doesn’t suffer the same fate and have come up with theories on the possible outcome. One theory predicts that, although Tom Holland’s Peter Parker won’t be able to reach her in time, Andrew Garfield will swing into action to catch MJ. This is my favorite fan theory yet since Garfield’s Spider-Man definitely deserves to be a hero after failing to catch his own love interest.

Ned Leeds May Become the Hobgoblin– Peter Parker has a bad history of his friends betraying him and becoming villains. MCU Peter Parker’s best friend, Ned Leeds played by Jacob Bateman, is predicted to be the next to turn. The movie includes multiple villains, so it is possible for an evil Ned to be one of them. In the comics, Ned Leeds has appeared as the notorious Hobgoblin. This theory seems unlikely to play out because of Ned’s kind and humorous personality and devotion to Peter. However, it would be miserable to see another friendship fall apart like Peter Parker and Harry Osborn’s friendship in the past Spider-Man movies.

MCU Peter Parker’s Fate– By far the saddest fan theories that have come from the question of what will be Peter Parker’s fate at the end of the film. Based on the title of the movie, Tom Holland’s elusive answers about his future in the MCU, and parts of the movie revealed in the trailer, fans speculate that MCU Spider-Man may come after this film. In the ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ trailer Peter says, “I can’t save everyone.” Some fans think the character is referring to himself, that Peter will sacrifice his own life to save the multiverse. Could this trilogy get any sadder? Another theory is that Peter Parker will get stuck in another universe while fighting these multiverse villains, where he will legitimately have ‘No Way Home’. No matter how sad that would be, it is undeniable that it would be awesome to see Tom Holland in Maguire or Garfield’s Spider-Man universes!

There are many more fan theories to share but those are some of the biggest, most exciting, and expected. Catch Spider-Man to see which ones came to life in the MCU!
