Tyler, the Creator was recently named Apple Music’s Artist of the Year for 2025 following the release of his new albums Chromakopia and Don’t Tap the Glass. But how did he get to this point? Tyler Okonma began his music career in 2007 by posting his early work on MySpace and created Odd Future in 2008. MySpace was one of the first major social media platforms, popular in the mid-2000s, where users could create personal profiles, customize their pages, and share music. For many beginning artists, MySpace served as an important launchpad, allowing them to upload songs, connect directly with fans, and gain exposure.
His first album, Goblin, was released in 2011 and quickly gained widespread popularity, earning him the MTV Music Award for Best New Artist. He has since won two Grammys for Best Rap Album and has received a total of five Grammy nominations for the 2026 Grammys. Throughout his career, Tyler has released eight albums: Goblin, Wolf, Cherry Bomb, Flower Boy, Igor, Call Me If You Get Lost, Chromakopia, and Don’t Tap the Glass. He also founded his own music festival, Camp Flog Gnaw. Overall, Tyler, the Creator is a highly successful musician and rapper who worked his way up to the top and has firmly earned his place there.
