Christmas Joy

Christmas+Joy

At seven this morning, I arose,

awaiting lots of presents and fresh snow.

The garlands drape with green boughs and yellow lights,

inflatables outside fill the street with delight.

That was before I saw the tree downstairs,

glistening and glittering with ornaments and angel hair.

Stockings flowing with goodies hang by the fire,

filled with treats, trinkets, and more than they require.

Yet what I looked forward to the most was not the gifts,

it was the joy of being together with family, although the world shifts.

Here, there is peace, love, joy, and cheerful song.

How I waited for Christmas so long!
