Michiganders of both Democrat and Republican parties are now heading to the polls to cast their ballots in the state’s 2024 presidential primary election on Tuesday. The list of who’s still competing in the Democratic and Republican primaries is a significantly smaller one then previous years. Though Michigan marks one of the earliest primaries in the presidential nominating schedule and comes earlier than it has in the past few primary elections, after a change to state law last year, the list of those seeking the nomination in both parties has quickly dwindled.
On the Democratic side, current US president Joe Biden will appear on the ballet, along with Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota. Although it might appear that Biden has a smaller chance of getting re-elected, his chances are better than they seem. Citizens of the US have not been impressed by Biden’s handling of the economy and it’s shown that Trump’s ratings on economic matters are significantly greater. The only thing is that the economy itself is improving fast by falling inflation, the growth is strong, and the stock market itself is booming. So, his chances are not as bad as it seems with the state of the American economy as of right now.
For Republicans, Trump and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley will appear on the ballot, despite a dominant showing from the former president in each of the early state primaries. A recent speech spoken by Haley says she will not drop out until at least another 20 states vote through Super Tuesday on March 5. This has made Donald Trump’s MAGA movement furious due to the reason that she’s the last major candidate standing in his path to the nomination.
Although nothing can be certain at this point in the race, we can tell that this is going to be one interesting election.
